Convert To 8 Bit
SCRAPE[DX], at its core, is essentially an independent electronic act encompassing an array of conflicting composition styles converted into a coherent and aggressive, rock solid alloy of cold worked technoid rhythms. Comprised solely of (self)producer Joshua Colella and based out of Middletown, Connecticut, Scrape[dx]...is difficult to pinpoint due to its characteristic use of multiple subgenres of electronic music as a composition tool. Dissecting the sound of Scrape[dx], one can identify a signature style of programming and editing; sounds are carefully composed and arranged creating, at times, pummeling and evolving rhythmic arraignments, while at other times minimalistic and moody ambient passages take center stage...Scrape[dx] live performances have a reputation for texture layering and a gradual build up of aggression leading to intense dance floor movement.
MAD E.P.: An experienced cellist and classical musical producer with years of music studies behind him, Matthew Peters [based out of NYC], the man behind Mad e.p., does not write music for the close minded. It is not enough for him that he produced the Chicago Symphonic Orchestra radioshow, for theatre plays in New York City, or that his cello lines were used by Venetian Snares and Leafcutter John. Break beats, electronica, abstract hip hop, IDM, soundscapes, call it as you like, Mad e.p. cooks without a recipe. Juggling in an insolent way with instruments, genres and referrences, Mad e.p. navigates in an area which he is himself shaping, somewhere between electronic wizardry, soulful hip hop, groove, breaks, jazz, and a healthy dose of gritty noise.
CONVERT TO 8 BIT: Formed in the suburbs of Philadelphia, during November of 2000, convert to 8 bit is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist s.l.ferreiro, a former member of independent rock bands A and 42, as well as the industrial band A Nihilist Viewpoint. convert to 8 bit originally began as an outlet for Ferreiro's eclectic solo work during his tenure with a nihilist viewpoint. After a nihilist viewpoint disbanded in 2001, Ferreiro began to develop convert to 8 bit as a full time project. During the writing process for convert to 8 bit, Ferreiro delved heavily into computer based music, as he focused on employing modern software technologies to create music that would lay the groundwork for a more organic electronic experience. Long time friend Alison Polsky joined...to provide background vocals and additional programming..Former A, 42, and a nihilist viewpoint drummer David wm. Breitmaier joined forces once again with Ferreiro. Breitmaier would expand his role as a percussionist to include some vocal work. Ferreiro's wife, Samantha, also began working on the project. She provided additional programming, guitars, and background vocals...During performances, Ferreiro found the need to recruit one more member to the convert to 8 bit lineup. Philadelphia dj, Teresa Centrone joined the band to handle some of the technical duties of the live performance. She would also expand her role to work as a segue artist, bridging songs together during performances. To further augment the live convert to 8 bit experience, Ferreiro drew on his film school background, and created original video displays that accompany the band.
